“Look! My business has its own website!”
Looking for a fun and useful online competition for kids these winter holidays? Imagine your child thinking of a business idea, giving it a name and a logo, building a real website for it and then planning how to tell the world about it. Not someday when they grow up, but this December, in just three weeks. That is exactly what Code Quest 2026 is all about, and it makes a great winter vacation activity for students.
After the amazing success of Code Quest 2025, Junior Coderz is back with a bigger, bolder challenge. This year, young coders will not just write a program. They will build a complete digital business with the help of AI and coding, step by step, with weekly video guides and support from our engineers.
Here is everything parents and students need to know about Code Quest 2026: how the competition works, the age categories, key dates, prizes, rules and how to take part.
What Is Code Quest 2026?
Code Quest 2026 is a 3-week online coding competition for kids and teens aged 8 to 16, organised by Junior Coderz. In this online competition, students use coding and AI tools to turn their own ideas into real digital businesses: from the very first idea, to website creation, to a marketing plan.
The theme is simple and exciting: Build it. Brand it. Launch it. Every student works on the same three missions, with tasks scaled to their age, so a 9-year-old and a 15-year-old can both take part, learn something new and feel proud of what they create.
The competition is fully online, so students can join from anywhere in the world, right from home.
What’s New This Year?
Code Quest has grown a lot since last year. Here is what is different in 2026:
- Open to all students aged 8–16: Code Quest 2025 was only for Junior Coderz students. This year, any student aged 8 to 16 can register.
- A business theme: instead of one coding project, students build a whole digital business over three weekly missions.
- AI is allowed: students can use AI tools to help them, as long as they understand and can explain their work.
- Three age categories: Explorers, Builders and Innovators, each with tasks designed for their age.
- Bigger prizes: a PlayStation 5 for 1st place, plus a smartwatch, a gaming kit and certificates.
- More support: weekly video guides, live seminars with engineers and a dedicated WhatsApp group.
How the Competition Works
From your first business idea to a website and marketing plan, students create their own digital business with the help of weekly video guides, AI tools and coding. After registering, students join our Code Quest WhatsApp group, where they receive weekly video guides to help them build each part of their project step by step.
The competition has three missions, one for each week:
Week 1: The Founder’s Blueprint
Students dream up a business, map out how it will work and give it a brand people will remember. This week covers the business idea, a simple business plan and branding, such as a name and a logo.
Week 2: Open for Business
Every business needs a home on the internet. Week 2 is all about website creation: students build a website that shows the world what their business does. It is a great way to learn how real websites are made. If your child enjoys this mission, our guide to website creation for kids is a good next step.
Week 3: Spread the Word
A business needs customers. In the final week, students launch their brand on Instagram and plan the marketing that brings their first customers in.
The exact tasks for each mission are revealed at the start of each week, so every student starts at the same time.

We believe AI is a powerful tool for young learners when it is used to learn, not to copy. You can read more about this in our guide to AI for kids.
Safety Rules
- Instagram accounts must be created and managed by a parent.
- Junior Coderz contacts parents only on WhatsApp.
- All communication must be safe and respectful.
A Perfect Winter Vacation Activity for Students
Code Quest runs from 15 December 2026 to 5 January 2027, right when many students are on their winter vacations. Instead of spending the holidays only on games and videos, your child can use that time to learn something new and build something they are proud of.
If you are searching for winter vacation activities for kids, an online competition is a great choice:
- Screen time that teaches: students create instead of just watching.
- A clear goal: one mission each week keeps the holidays productive and fun.
- Done from home: no travel is needed.
- Back to school with something to show: a brand, a website and a certificate for finishing.
Why Kids Should Join Code Quest 2026
- Real-world skills: students learn how a business works, from idea and branding to website creation and marketing.
- Coding and AI together: they learn to use modern tools the smart way, by understanding what they build.
- Creativity: every business is different, so every project is a reflection of your child’s ideas.
- Confidence: finishing a three-week project and presenting it is something children are proud of for a long time.
- Recognition: certificates for every finisher, live presentations for the Top 20 and great prizes for the winners.
Parents: Your Role Matters
You do not need to know coding or business to support your child. Ask them about their business idea, celebrate small wins like a finished logo or a working web page, and remind them that mistakes are part of learning. Your encouragement helps your child build resilience, stay motivated and enjoy every step of the journey.
Last Year’s Champions
Last year, Code Quest had two categories: Scratch for younger coders and Python for senior students. Our young coders built creative Scratch projects full of logic and imagination, and our senior students coded a complete School Management System in Python. Meet them here:
